A baking pan is a metal container - typically aluminum, stainless steel, or enameled steel - used to bake or roast food in the oven. The term covers a range of shapes: rectangular cake and sheet pans, round cake pans, loaf pans, and muffin tins.

Baking pans are used for cakes, breads, cookies, and roasted meats and vegetables. Standard rectangular pans run from about 9x13 inches up to an 18x26-inch full sheet pan; pan size and material affect both cooking time and browning. Unlike a baking dish, which is usually glass or ceramic and deep enough to serve from directly, a baking pan is typically shallower metal bakeware suited to sheet-style baking.
