Brandy is a spirit distilled from wine or another fermented fruit base. It is used in cocktails, sauces, desserts, and fruit preparations. Grape brandy and fruit brandies have different flavors; Cognac and Armagnac are particular grape-brandy traditions rather than names for every brandy.
