Bull Shot

Beverages

A bull shot is a savory cocktail made by combining beef broth or bouillon with vodka (or sometimes gin), often with Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lemon juice, or celery salt, served hot or chilled. It's generally understood as a variation on the Bloody Mary that swaps tomato juice for beef broth, and emerged as a "hair of the dog" hangover remedy in the mid-20th-century United States, though its exact origin is undocumented. Beyond drinking it straight, the savory broth-and-spirit base can double as a starting point for soups or pan sauces when made without the alcohol.
