Cocktail Olive

Ingredients

A cocktail olive, also called a martini olive, is a small brined olive served in or alongside mixed drinks such as the martini and the Gibson. Manzanilla, the most common variety, is prized for its firm texture and mild, slightly nutty flavor, though Kalamata and Cerignola olives are also used for a stronger or sweeter profile. Beyond cocktails, they're used as a garnish for salads, antipasto platters, and pizza. Their salty brininess is meant to accent the herbal notes of gin or the neutral character of vodka rather than overpower them.
