Coconut butter, also called coconut manna, is a spread made by pureeing whole coconut meat, including its fiber and oil, into a smooth paste. It differs from coconut oil, which is the pure fat pressed out of the meat, and from coconut cream, which is a liquid; coconut butter is solid at room temperature and has the fibrous body of a nut butter. It's used mainly as a spread, in smoothies, and in raw or paleo-style desserts and baked goods, rather than as a base for curries or stews, which typically call for coconut milk or cream instead. Its flavor is rich, sweet, and nutty.
