Grainy Mustard

Ingredients

Grainy mustard, also called whole grain mustard or coarse-ground mustard, is a condiment made by leaving mustard seeds whole or coarsely crushed rather than ground smooth, unlike Dijon-style mustard. The visible seeds give it a distinctive textural bite alongside a robust flavor.

France's Dijon region is known for grainy mustards blending brown and yellow mustard seeds; English-style versions tend to be sharper and more pungent.

Its bold, spicy-yet-tangy flavor makes grainy mustard a good marinade or rub for roasted or grilled meats, and an easy addition to vinaigrettes, mayonnaise-based spreads, and cheese dips.
