Maror

Ingredients

Maror is the bitter herb eaten as a symbolic food during the Passover seder, most commonly horseradish, romaine lettuce, or endive. It represents the bitterness of slavery in ancient Egypt and is traditionally dipped in charoset, a sweet paste of fruit, nuts, and wine, before being eaten. Ashkenazi tradition favors horseradish, while Sephardic tradition more often uses romaine lettuce or endive.
