Rotisserie chicken is a whole chicken cooked on a rotating spit, typically sold pre-cooked and seasoned at grocery stores and delis as a ready-to-eat main. The slow rotation self-bastes the bird in its own rendered fat, giving moist meat under crisp, browned skin, usually seasoned with a dry rub of garlic, herbs, and paprika before cooking. Because the meat is already fully cooked, it's a quick base for sandwiches, salads, soups, tacos, and casseroles once shredded or sliced. See rotisserie for the cooking method itself.
