Lentil Soup - Jaffrey

Ingredients

• 1/2 ts Whole cumin seed or more
• 1 Whole bay leaf
• 1/8 ts Pepper black
• 1 pn Ground asafetida optional
• 3/4 Lemon sliced
• 1 ts Turmeric ground
• 2 c Lentils
• 5 Cloves garlic peeled
• 1/4 ts Cayenne pepper optional
• 3 tb Oil or ghee
• 1 Stick cinnamon 2 to 3" long
• 1 Inche ginger fresh peeled
• 1 1/2 ts Salt
