Ingredients

• 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• Pinch of salt
• 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 3/4 cup plus 4 tablespoons of whole milk
• 1 large egg, beaten
• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
• 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
• 1 heaping tablespoon of cocoa powder
• 1/2 cup white or dark chocolate chips (optional)
• Vegetable oil, for cooking
• 3 tablespoons Nutella
• 3 tablespoons (45 ml) warm water
• 1 pound strawberries, hulled and sliced in half (you can use frozen; don’t thaw)
• Zest and juice from 1/2 of a lemon
• 1/4 cup (50 grams) granulated sugar
