Ingredients

• 2 tsp. active dry yeast
• 1 cup lukewarm water
• 1/3 cup sugar
• 1 cup milk, heated to lukewarm
• 8 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted (1 stick) (or use 8 Tbs. vegetable oil)
• 1 tsp. salt (1/2 tsp. if using salted butter)
• 2 lg. eggs, beaten
• 6 to 7 cups unbleached all purpose flour
• 1 egg, beaten, for egg wash
