• 1 oz. orange liqueur (optional)

• 1 tsp. salt
• 3/4 cup cold unsalted butter
• 1 cup cold buttermilk
• Coarse sugar, for sprinkling
• 2 cups heavy cream
• 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar, plus more for dusting
• 1 tsp. vanilla extract
• 8 oz. container mascarpone cheese
