Ingredients

• ½ teaspoon baking soda
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• ¾ cup (1½ sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
• 1 egg
• ½ cup coarsely chopped unblanched almonds
• Chopped unblanched almonds (one pinch per cookie)
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 4 tablespoons finely chopped candied orange peel (see the note)
• 2 tablespoons honey
• ¾ cup (packed) light brown sugar
