• - 225 g / 1/2 pound of bread, after removing the outer rind - preferably one or two days old.
• - 1 litre / 4 cups whole milk, warm (1)
• - 4 large eggs at room temperature
• - 4 Tbsp. butter, melted
• - 85 ml / 2/3 cup raisins
• - 1 Tsp. ground cinnamon
• - 250 ml / 1 cup white sugar (2)
• - 1 Tsp. vanilla
• - 1/2 Tsp. ground nutmeg
• - 1/3 Tsp. salt
• - 60 ml rum (optional)
