Chocolate Gourmand: Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter, softened
• 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp salt (optional)
• 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
• 3 cups rolled oats (not quick cook)
• 1 cup raisins (you can also use dried cranberries)
