• 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
• 1/8 cup cocoa
• 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp. cloves
• 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
• 1/2 tsp. allspice
• 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 1/2 cup applesauce
• 3/4 cups raisins
• 3/4 cups walnuts
• 3/4 cups dates (pitted and chopped)
