• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 1 egg, beaten well
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/2 cup nuts, optional, of your choice, chopped
• 1/2 cup chocolate chips, optional
• 1 cup cornflakes
