Originally called Chocolate Nut Drops when this recipe came out in the mid-60s, you make these coconut no-bake cookies by creating a candy-like chocolate base, then stir in oats, coconut and nuts.
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1-1/2 cups Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned), uncooked
- 1 cup shredded or flaked coconut
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
