French Onion Soup

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup butter
• 4 red onions thinly sliced
• 4 yellow onions thinly sliced
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp black pepper
• 1/2 cup white wine
• 5 1/3 cups beef broth
• 4 cups water
• 1/2 tsp dried thyme
• 12-14 slices french bread
• Olive oil
• 6 cups swiss cheese shredded
