Cinnamon Crusted French Toast Bake

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced into small cubes
• 1 pinch ground nutmeg
• 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 cup pecans, chopped
• 1 loaf sourdough bread (approximately 15 oz), cut into 1 inch cubes
• 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
• 3 tablespoons brown sugar
• Maple syrup, for serving
• 6 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
• 1/8 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted for topping plus extra for greasing the baking dish
• 2 cups whole milk
