Ingredients

• 1 1/3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 4 tsp butter
• 1/4 cup plus 2 tsp flour
• 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp baking powder
• 3/4 cup ground almonds
• 2 eggs
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
• 1/2 cup additional sugar (for rolling)
• 1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
• 1 1/4 cups sifted icing sugar
• 1 tbsp plus 2 tsp milk or coffee cream
• Pinch of salt
• A few drops of green or red food coloring (optional)
• 3 candy canes, crushed (or approx. 1/3 cup pre-crushed candy cane pieces)
