- 1 piece ginger peeled and sliced
- juice and zest of one lemon
- 2 cups cake flour
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 large egg lightly beaten
- 4 tbsp butter/margarine
- ½ cup buttermilk, milk or water
- oil for frying
