  • 2 teaspoons plus 1 teaspoon kosher salt , divided, plus extra for seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon plus one teaspoon pepper , divided
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 6 cups vegetable oil for frying
