• 1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
• 1/2 c. butter
• 3/4 c. brown sugar
• 3/4 c. white sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp baking soda, dissolved in 1 tsp. water.
• 2 1/2 c. flour
• 1/2 tsp salt
• (1) 12 oz. package chocolate chips
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1/2 c. chopped walnuts (optional)
