Ingredients

• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
• 1 cup shortening
• 2 large eggs, beaten
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick-cooking)
• 1-1/2 cups mixed morsels and/or nuts of your choice (see Tip)
