Split Pea Soup - CookingHub
This split pea soup is a version of a traditional Czech Christmas soup, but you can prepare it anytime you get a craving for a creamy soup.
Ingredients
- 1 LB of green split peas - dried
- 8 cups of water
- 3 TBSP of frying oil (any kind) (adjust if needed)
- 1 onion - peeled and chopped (large onion)
- 1 carrots - peeled and shredded (medium size carrots)
- 2 cups of vegetable broth (or chicken broth)
- 1 TBSP of marjoram - dried
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 2 cloves of garlic - peeled and grated (or pressed)
- 1 TSP of salt (*)
- ½ TSP of pepper - ideally freshly ground
- Optionally: ½ LB of bacon (pork) - diced
- 1x Measuring Cups
- 1x Measuring Spoons
- 1x Chef’s knife
- 1x Cutting Board
- 1x Medium Mixing Bowl (3 – 4 QT)
- 1x Plate
- 1x Large Sauce Pan or Medium Pot (6QT)
- 1x Wooden Spoon or High-Temperature Silicone Spatula
- 1x Box Grater or Food Processor wt Shredder (large openings)
- 1x Large Fry Pan or Sauté Pan
- 1x Immersion Blender or Food Processor or Blender
- 1x Small Hand Grater or Garlic Press
