Donut Muffins

Ingredients

• 1 cup milk ((low-fat is fine))
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 3 cups all-purpose flour, (spooned into measuring cup and leveled-off)
• 2½ teaspoons baking powder
• ¼ teaspoon baking soda
• 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 12 tablespoons (1½ sticks) unsalted butter, softened but still cool
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
• 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 2¼ teaspoons cinnamon
