Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped dates
- ¾ cup sugar
- 60g (3 tablespoons) butter
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1½ cups self raising flour
- 1-2 tsp of sweet spice
- 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
