Ingredients

• 1 1/2 cups sugar
• 1/4 cup cornstarch
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 3 cups whole milk
• 4 egg yolks, beaten with a fork
• 6 1/2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, broken into pieces
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 2 teaspoons vanilla
• 1 baked pie shell (store-bought is fine)
