- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons Demerara Sugar (Turbinado Sugar)
- 4 tablespoons cold salted butter
- 1 tablespoon caraway seed* Can be omitted
- 1 cup golden raisins* Can be omitted
- 1 egg
- 1-1/4 – 1-1/2 cups of buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon of milk to glaze the top
