Ingredients

• 1 sleeve of saltine crackers (about 40)
• 1 cup (2 sticks) plus 1 tbsp. unsalted butter
• 1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
• ½ tsp. cayenne pepper, or to taste
• 12 oz. finely chopped 70 percent dark chocolate or dark chocolate chips
• ¼ tsp. freshly ground black pepper
• ½ cup chopped pecans
• ½ cup dried cherries
• ½ tsp. flaky sea salt, such as Maldon
