• 1 cup lightly packed dark brown sugar (250 mL)
• 1 tsp baking soda, ground cinnamon and ground ginger (each) (5 mL)
• 1/2 tsp salt, ground nutmeg and cloves (each) (2 mL)
• 1 cup vegetable oil and buttermilk (each) (250 mL)
