Ingredients

• 5 ounces bittersweet chocolate
• 1/4 to 1/2 cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (optional)
• 1/4 cup brandy or chocolate liqueur
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 3/4 cup matzo flour or matzo meal*
• 5 tablespoons (2 1/2 ounces) unsalted butter, plus more for the pan
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
• 1/4 to 1/2 cup roughly chopped walnuts
