- 11⁄2 teaspoons dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon fine kosher salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- vegetable oil for frying
