Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup raisins
  • ¾ c chopped walnuts
  • 3 cups thinly sliced, peeled New York apples (about 2 large)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • Make topping: In a medium bowl combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add melted butter and vanilla. Stir with a fork to combine. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch square or round baking pan. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add melted butter, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla. Stir just until combined.
  • Cool for 30 minutes before removing from pan.
