Spice Cake - Cindys Recipes

Ingredients

• 1 3/4 C Cake flour (See notes on how to make cake flour)
• 2 1/4 tsp baking powder
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp nutmeg
• 1/2 tsp cloves
• few grains of cayenne (optional - I didn't use for my cakes)
• 2 Tbsp boiling water
• 1/2 C shortening (Says butter or shortening - prefer shortening)
• 1 C sugar (separated)
• 2 eggs (separated)
• 2 egg yolk
• 2/3 C buttermilk
