• 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
• 1/2 cup flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 cup milk
• 1 egg
• 1/4 cup caramelized onions (from about 1 large onion*)
• oil (for frying)
