• 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon dry mustard
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• 3/4 cup finely chopped onion
• 3 teaspoons salt
• 1 tablespoon red or cider vinegar, optional
