Ingredients

• ½ cup brown sugar
• ½ cup walnuts, chopped (can substitute pecans or granola)
• 4 tablespoons butter
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon vanilla, optional
• 6 small Gala or Macintosh apples, cored (use a grapefruit spoon, metal teaspoon or small knife to remove core, leaving ½ inch of apple at bottom)
• ½ cup apple juice or apple cider
