- 1 kg black beans (pre-boiled until tender, can use white kidney beans)
- 6 l full-fat coconut milk (always use full-fat for Thai desserts)
- 500 g palm sugar (adds caramel undertone)
- 2 tbsp table salt (flavor enhancer)
- 50 pieces bamboo tubes (1.5-2.5 inch diameter, 12 inch long, thin-walled variety)
- 50 pieces coconut husk pieces (cut into 3 inch pieces for plugging bamboo tubes)
- 50 pieces banana leaves (cut into 5x5 inches for wrapping plugs)
- 10 leaves pandan leaves (optional, adds fragrance and unique aroma)
