This recipe for a classic hot fudge sauce came to The Times in 2004, from Kay Rentschler “A well-constructed homemade hot fudge sauce moves forward with dark smoky accents and arrives with plenty of chew,” she wrote Here, bittersweet chocolate and high-fat Dutch process cocoa bring that smokiness, while heavy cream, butter and sugar mellow it out

This pretty red potato salad has great flavor. Goes well with a summer barbeque, or anytime! For a tangy twist, try using plain fat-free yogurt in place of some or all of the sour cream. Garnish with additional sliced hard-boiled eggs, if desired.

This classic recipe appeared in a 1963 Times article by Craig Claiborne about the increasing popularity of beef stroganoff (the article featured not one, but two slightly different recipes for the dish.) Mr Claiborne reported that “the meat-and-cream dish is of Russian provenance, likely named for a noted Russian gourmet, Count Paul Stroganoff, a dignitary in the court of Czar Alexander III.” Stroganoff may not be considered haute cuisine any longer, but the rich stew, dotted with mushrooms and laced with sour cream, is still deeply satisfying and the perfect antidote to a chilly day Serve it over buttered parsley noodles.

These green beans are nice and meaty, with a creamy sauce. My wife doesn't cook and is a little picky. She said she would only eat her mother's green beans so I got her recipe. For a variation on this recipe, mix in 1 cup sour cream with the other ingredients, or sprinkle 1 cup of your favorite shredded cheese over the top near the end of baking time
