Bulgur Pilaf

Dishes & Recipes

Bulgur pilaf is a dish of bulgur simmered in broth with onions, garlic, and other aromatics until tender, prepared the same way as a rice pilaf. It's common across the Middle East, particularly Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, and Armenia, and is often seasoned with cinnamon, allspice, cumin, or black pepper. It's typically served as a side to grilled or roasted meats, vegetables, or legumes, and can be enriched with butter or olive oil, or finished with roasted nuts, raisins, or dried fruit. Like bulgur itself, the dish is wheat-based and contains gluten, despite sometimes being grouped with gluten-free grain sides.
