Chocolate peppermint patties are a confection made of a soft, sugar-based peppermint filling coated in a shell of tempered chocolate. The filling is typically sugar, corn syrup, and peppermint extract, sometimes with a little cream or butter, cooked or beaten until smooth and then dipped or enrobed in dark, milk, or white chocolate. They are eaten as an after-dinner mint or holiday candy, and are also chopped into cookies and brownies or melted into hot chocolate.
