Cornbread Stuffing

Dishes & Recipes

Cornbread stuffing is a savory side dish of crumbled cornbread combined with sautéed onion, celery, herbs, and broth, traditionally cooked inside the cavity of a turkey or other poultry rather than in a separate dish. In parts of the American South, the same mixture baked outside the bird is instead called 'dressing'; the two terms are largely interchangeable in casual use, but stuffing technically denotes the in-cavity version.

Common additions include sausage, bacon, pecans, or dried fruit, and the dish is a staple at Thanksgiving and other holiday meals, whether baked in a casserole or inside the bird.
