Crème de Menthe

Crème de menthe is a mint-flavored liqueur made by infusing neutral spirits with peppermint and sweetening the result. Despite the name ("cream of mint" in French), it contains no dairy.

It comes in a bright green, dyed version and a clear version with a milder mint flavor; both are common. It's used in cocktails such as the Grasshopper (with crème de cacao and cream) and the Stinger (with brandy), and to flavor chocolate desserts, ice creams, and sponge cakes. It can also be taken on its own as a digestif.
