Puffy ground beef tacos

Ingredients

• 1/4 cup vegetable oil
• 2 lb of ground beef (1 Kg)
• 1/2 medium yellow onion, roughly chopped
• 3 cloves garlic minced
• 3 jalapeno chilli peppers, chopped
• 1 tbsp chili powder
• 1 tbsp cumin
• 1 tbsp dried oregano
• 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro (coriander)
• 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
• 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
• Salt
• black pepper
• 1 tbsp lime juice
• 2 cups masa harina
• 1 1/4 cup water
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1 quart vegetable oil
• Additional condiments (for filling the tacos)
• Shredded iceberg lettuce
• Diced tomatoes
• Salsa
• Grated cheddar cheese
