Thai green Papaya Salad with Spiced Roasted Peanuts Recipe - Great British Chefs
This simple green papaya salad is inspired by som tam, and made with tart, unripe papaya and a sweet and sour tamarind and palm sugar dressing.
Ingredients
- 400g of green papaya, sliced into thin strips
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 Thai chillies, finely sliced
- 1 tbsp of palm sugar
- 1 handful of green beans, sliced into 5 cm pieces
- 1 tbsp of dried shrimp
- 1 tbsp of fish sauce
- 1 tbsp of tamarind paste
- 1 lime, zested and juiced
- 1 handful of cherry tomatoes, sliced into wedges
- 300g of peanuts, crushed
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 20ml of vegetable oil
- salt, to taste
- 400g of basmati rice
- 600ml of water
- 1 lime, sliced into wedges
- 1 handful of fresh coriander, leaves picked
- 1 tsp black sesame seeds
- 1 spring onion, finely sliced
- 1 red chilli, finely sliced
- 100ml of sesame oil, to drizzle
