Ingredients

• 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
• 1 TBSP lemon zest plus 2 Tbsp. fresh juice (from 1 lemon)
• 1/2 cup plus 2 TBSP granulated sugar, divided
• 4 cups flour, plus more for work surface and kneading
• 1 TBSP baking powder
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
• 1 1/4 cups cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
• 1 1/2 cups whole buttermilk
• 2 cups plus 2 TBSP cold heavy cream, divided
• 1 TBSP sanding sugar (or coarse sugar)
• 1/2 cup powdered sugar
• 1 vanilla bean pod, split (or use 1 tsp vanilla)
• 1 pint blueberries
