- 2 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon Magnolia-Star Almond Extract
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 5 tablespoons unsalted cold butter cut into small pieces
- 3⁄4 cup buttermilk
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream, reserve one tablespoon for coating tops of scones
- 1⁄4 cup almonds, plus 1 tbs for topping
