My Mom's Pasta Sauce - Confessions of a Chocoholic

Ingredients

• 16 oz pasta (I used whole wheat penne)
• 1/2 lb ground beef (I used 85% lean)
• 4 pieces bacon, cut into 2 inch strips
• 2 links spicy Italian sausage, quartered
• 1/2 small yellow onion, chopped
• 4 garlic cloves, minced
• 10 oz sliced white mushrooms
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 6 oz cooked shrimp (I used Trader Joe's frozen shrimp without tails)
• 2 cans (28 oz per can) crushed San Marzano tomatoes
• 1 tablespoon capers
• 1/4 cup red wine
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• dash of Tabasco hot sauce
• salt and pepper to taste
• fresh basil leaves for garnish
• shredded Parmesan cheese for serving
